Built at the Gornskew works and shipped to any hull that will have one: Cyclops, the fitted transporter room. The module arrives pre-staffed with its own Transporter Chief, and from the day it slots in, every consignment your ship takes on or sends out — supplies in, deliveries out — passes through his room.
Every Chief who comes with the line is terse to the point of rudeness, absolutely reliable, and entirely without curiosity. We advertise all three plainly, because on that watch the third is the virtue: he will never wonder what is inside a consignment he is handling — supplies or personnel, raw stock or a crated Engineer — and will never improve anything you did not ask him to.
Optional, and we would rather say so than have you find out: a ship comes up with no transporter room at all, and you can publish routes by hand. A Cyclops is for when you would rather write the standing orders once and stop thinking about them.
We can tell you exactly what any room of this line will be like, because we build them to be like this. Which Chief you get is another matter: his name is minted at muster, and until your ship comes up neither of us knows it.
Give him his orders as symbolic expressions: host buckets, path prefixes, which room answers for what, and where a caller must keep going back to the same one. The file is the whole of the order, and it reads like something a person wrote on purpose.
The room carries none, and that is not a shortcoming — it is the specification. This line stands a watch; it does not design ships. It is why the room costs the price of a watch rather than the price of a seat, and why nothing you do to it can grow into something you have to maintain.
The Chief keeps a vitals log and offers no display of it at all. If you want the board that reads it, fit an Eyes Only radio shack. We build the two rooms to separate specifications on purpose: a Chief who took an interest in presentation would stand a worse watch.
A Cyclops slots into Basilisk-class hulls by design, and the room is just as content fronting anything else that speaks HTTP — the Chief does not ask what is on the other side of the wall. The sku names the room, not the watch: Cyclops is what we build, and a transporter room is what it is.
